Colorem Design Studio is a creative agency based in Ethiopia, specializing in branding, digital marketing, and design services. The studio caters to a wide range of clients, from small businesses to enterprises, helping them build a cohesive and impactful brand presence.
The goal of this project was to design a modern, intuitive website that reflects the studio’s vibrant and innovative spirit while providing a seamless user experience for both potential clients and collaborators.
Complex Navigation Structure
The studio previously had a website that was cluttered and difficult to navigate. Users struggled to find relevant information such as service details, portfolio examples, and contact information. Many visitors would leave the site after visiting just one page due to the confusing layout.
Lack of Visual Identity Alignment
The existing website did not reflect the vibrant and creative ethos of the Colorem brand. Its design was generic and failed to communicate the studio’s unique approach to design, leaving potential clients unsure about the studio’s capabilities and creative vision.
Limited Mobile Usability
The old site was not fully optimized for mobile devices. Slow loading times, poor layout adjustments, and non-responsive elements resulted in a frustrating experience for users accessing the site on smartphones and tablets, which is a significant portion of the studio’s audience.
Streamlined Navigation and Information Architecture
To resolve the navigation issues, I restructured the entire information architecture. By simplifying the menu and organizing content into intuitive categories (About, Services, Portfolio, Blog, Contact), made it easier for users to find what they’re looking for quickly. I also implemented breadcrumbs and a sticky header for seamless navigation across different sections of the site.
Bold, Creative Visual Design
To align the website’s visual identity with the Colorem brand, I designed a clean & artistic interface that reflects the studio’s creativity and minimal design elements. The design showcases Colorem’s design philosophy while maintaining a professional and clean layout.
Mobile-First Design
I prioritized a mobile-first approach, ensuring that the site functions flawlessly on mobile devices. This involved optimizing load times through image compression and employing a responsive grid system. I also ensured touch-friendly interaction elements, such as larger buttons and simplified forms, to enhance usability on smaller screens.
